Education Awareness and Support Effort (EASE)
The Education Matching Grant Project is an element of the Education Awareness
Support Effort (EASE), which is a component of USAID’s Growth with Equity in
Mindanao (GEM) Program.
EASE is designed to increase public awareness of the
problems facing education in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and
neighboring conflict-affected areas of Mindanao, and to mobilize support for
activities directed towards solving some of these problems.
What is a Matching Grant?
A matching grant provides funds to match those provided by Parent-Teacher-Community Associations and other community organizations, for a specific program or activity to improve educational services in a qualified school.
Who funds the matching Grant?
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provides the
matching funds.
The Matching Grant Project is an element of the Education
Awareness Support Effort (EASE)
of USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM)
Program.
How large is a Matching Grant?
The value of a Matching Grant is determined by the amounts raised by the Parent-Teacher Community Associations. For example, if a PTCA is able to raise P20,000 to establish a library, it can apply for a Matching Grant of P20,000. A Matching Grant amounts to no more than 50 percent of the total activity or program cost.
